PC Musthafa, 44, co-founder of iD Fresh Foods (India) Private Limited, which makes batter for idlis and dosas, is the youngest recipient of the Distinguished Alumni Awards (DAA) in the history of IIM-B. The award will be conferred on him during the 45th Foundation Day celebrations of IIM-B on Sunday.
Musthafa, a school dropout who went on to study at IIM-B, is the son of a daily wager from a remote village in Kerala. He wanted to be an entrepreneur at a very young age and started an enterprise that sold idli-dosa batter jointly with his cousins while doing MBA. The preservative-free batter for idlis and dosas became a hit in south Indian states and his business grew fast.
While thanking his batch of 2007 for nominating him, Mustafa said, “My father would be proud to see my name on the Wall of Fame at the institute,” reported TOI.
The other two recipients are S Vaidyanathan (PGP 1992), co-founder, The Ganga Trust, who is wheelchair-bound but has left no stone unturned to help others with disabilities, and MV Rajamannar (PGP 1985), chief marketing and communications officer and president-healthcare business, Mastercard.
