Bengaluru’s Kempegowda International Airport The Second Fastest Growing Airport In The World

Bengaluru’s Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) is the second fastest growing airport in the world in terms of passenger growth for the first half of 2018,The New Indian Express has reported.

The figures have been put out by RoutesOnline which focusing on quality and standards of global aviation. The report by RoutesOnline in question considers only airports that have crossed 25 lakh passengers during the first six months of 2018.

KIA has recorded 15,850,352 passengers during the first six months. The airport has thus added 4,180,852 passengers with respect to the same period last year. New Delhi and Hyderabad airport have bagged the sixth and seventeenth place in the standings. The passenger growth in New Delhi was clocked at 3,276,183 and Hyderabad grew by 2,097,087 passengers

Haneda International Airport in Japan occupied the top spot in the report. It was used by 43,288,588 passengers, an increase of 4,344,307 in comparison to the same period year.

In terms of percentage growth in number of passengers for the first half of 2018, China’s Quanzhou Jinjiang International tops the list and KIA gets the sixth spot. The growing number of passengers flying from KIA indicates the rising profile of Bengaluru in the international scene.
