Bharat Dynamics Limited Celebrates Golden Jubilee Of Building Missiles For Indian Armed Forces

The state run Bharat Dynamics Limited (BDL) boasts of a robust order book worth Rs 8,000 crore for making various missiles for the armed forces which are to be delivered within the next five years, reports The Hindu.

The defence major expects its orders book to swell to a net worth of more than Rs 25,000 crore in the next four-five years as it hauls up the production of next-generation missiles. The company has also signed a pact with IIIT Hyderabad to incorporate the use of artificial intelligence in the development of systems and products.

The company, run under the administrative control of the Ministry of Defence (MoD) is celebrating its Golden Jubilee of operations this year, and it was established on 17 July 1970 as a manufacturing base for guided missiles and allied defence equipment to meet the needs of Indian armed forces.

Presently, the company makes Anti-tank Guided Missiles (ATGMs), Akash surface-to-air missiles, torpedos, seeker-based multi-role air defence missile or the MRSAM (medium-range surface-to-air missile) which is being jointly developed by the DRDO, IAI (Israel) and others.
