Bihar: Patna Metro’s Revised DPR Approved, Tracks To Go 20 Meters Beneath Bailey Road

The revised detailed project report (DPR) of the Patna Metro says that the train will run 20 metres beneath the Bailey Road on the west-east corridor. The revised DPR submitted by states’s urban and housing development department was approved on Tuesday (9 October) by the Bihar Cabinet, reported The Telegraph.

The revised DPR which solve some of the problems in the earlier plan and will now be sent to the Centre for final approval.

A senior state department official said that the project has been prepared to cause minimum disturbance to the commuters during its execution and that the existing infrastructure will not be affected by it.

The DPR had to be revised because as going by the old DPR the West-East corridor was supposed to run along the Bailey Road which would have hindered the progress of Lohia Path Chakra Project.

“Roughly speaking, the stretch between Mahavir temple on Bailey Road and Niyojan Bhavan will now run north of the Bailey road median and hence, the Metro alignment would not come in the way of the Lohia Path Chakra,” the official said.

The estimated cost of the project which includes laying of 331 km tracks and developing two corridors will be about Rs 17,800 crore.

The West-East corridor will run between Danapur area and Patna Junction via Dakbungalow square while the South-North corridor will run between ISBT to railway station.
