With special focus on the higher education in the country, the Bharatiya Janata Party, in its manifesto for 2019 Lok Sabha elections, has said that it will strive to increase the seats in higher educational institution by 50 per cent in the next term.
“We will take all necessary steps to increase the number of seats in Central Law, Engineering, Science and Management institutions by at least 50 per cent in the next five years,” read the manifesto. It added that the states will also be motivated to accordingly increase the number of seats in the state institutions.
The party, in its manifesto, has also promised to create 50 institutions of eminence. “In the past five years, our emphasis has been on quality higher educational institutions, and Institutions of Eminence have been a step in that direction. We will take it forward in the next five years and create 50 such institutions by 2024,” said the party manifesto.
Emphasising on the need for having world-class institution in fields like culture and music, and tourism, the BJP manifesto said, "We will set up an Arts, Culture and Music University with a focus on fine arts such as music and dance.
We will also open a state-of-the-a Hospitality and Tourism University and a Police University,”. States will be encouraged to establish similar institutions of excellence, it said.
