The BJP appears to have suffered a late collapse in Jharkhand assembly polls on Monday afternoon (23 December) after the party’s lead tally sharply reduced from 32 to 24. As per some media reports the party earlier was leading on 33 seats.
This puts the JMM-Congress-RJD combine in pole position to form the government. As per latest election commission data the JMM is leading on 29 seats (same as BJP), Congress on 14 and the RJD on four which puts their total numbers at 44. The majority mark is 41.
if this result stands, it is the end of the road for Chief Minister Raghubar Das, who has been dubbed as “arrogant” by various party workers. He is also trailing against his former colleague turned rebel Saryu Roy by a margin of over 5,800 votes.
