In a big fillip to the mining sector of Karnataka, the State's Government is planning to introduce a single-window clearance system to expedite the applications and proposals and ensure ease of doing business in the mines department, reports Economic Times.
Announcing the development, State's Mines and Geology Minister Murugesh R Nirani emphasised that the State Government wants the departments to go to the doorsteps of the investors than having the investors waiting to get permission for years.
Nirani asserted, "The only solution to reduce the harassment that investors face to get permits from departments is through establishing a single-window agency under the department."
The State plans to establish two single-window clearance committees at the district level and the State level. As per the plan, if investments would be lesser than Rs five crore, the agency headed by the deputy commissioners will clear the applications, and in case of projects above Rs five crore, a panel headed by the Minister will approve the proposals.
Meanwhile, the State's commerce and industries department already has a single-window clearance system to ensure speedy processing of the investment proposals.
