The Noida City Centre-Noida Electronic City section of the Delhi Metro is likely to open soon as the safety inspection of the stretch was carried out on Monday (4 March), reports Indian Express. The 6.6-km-long section is an extension of Delhi Metro’s Blue Line.
According to the report, there are six stations on the fully elevated section, namely Sector 34, Sector 52, Sector 61, Sector 59, Sector 62 and Noida Electronic City.
“The civil work on the section is over and trials are currently underway. Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety (CMRS) SK Pathak today (4 March) inspected the 6.675-km long Noida City Centre-Noida Electronic City section of Delhi Metro’s Blue Line,” a senior DMRC official was quoted in the report as saying.
As per the report, the section of the Blue line, once opened, will immensely benefit the residents of Noida. It will bring the Delhi Metro’s Blue Line closer to the Noida Metro’s newly opened Aqua Line, which links Noida and Greater Noida.
The Sector 52 Metro station of Blue Line is reportedly close to Sector 51 metro station of Aqua Line and thus will help commuters who are awaiting last-mile connectivity between the two metro lines.
The report cited officials as saying that there are plans to connect the two lines through a dedicated pathway and a carriage-way for e-rickshaws.
