In a big diplomatic win for India, a strongly-worded Xiamen Declaration, adopted at the end of the BRICS plenary session, named Pakistan-based terror outfits such as Lashkar-e-Taiba, Jaish-e-Mohammed and Haqqani network among groups causing violence and clubbed them with outfits such as the Islamic State, Taliban and Al-Qaida, Hindustan Times has reported.

“We express concern on the security situation in the region and violence caused by the Taliban, ISIL/DAISH, Al-Qaeda and its affiliates including Eastern Turkistan Islamic Movement, Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan, the Haqqani network, Lashkar-e-Taiba, Jaish-e-Mohammad, TTP and Hizb ut-Tahrir,” the joint statement read issued at the end of the BRICS plenary session read.

"We deplore all terrorist attacks worldwide, including attacks in BRICS countries, and condemn terrorism in all its forms and manifestations wherever committed and by whomsoever and stress that there can be no justification whatsoever for any act of terrorism,” the deceleration added.

According to News18, China had in the last BRICS summit blocked Indian efforts to get names of Pakistan-based terror outfits mentioned in the joint statement.

"All BRICS leaders came up very strongly in condemning terror in all its manifestations. You can see that in seven paragraphs of the declaration," the Ministry of External Affairs said after the declaration was made public.
