With confirmed cases of Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) surging in the country, Central Railways and Western Railways have withdrawn curtains and blankets from the air conditioned coaches and have advised the passengers to carry their own blankets, reports Hindustan Times.

In a press release, Central Railways has also informed that a special focus is being laid on intensive cleaning of the toilets, washbasins and toilet seats with hot water jets.

It is also actively pursuing the cleaning of all coach fittings like grab handles, door handles, door latches, seat guard, snack trays, window glass and grill, bottle holders, upper berth climbing stairs, electrical switches, charging points and dustbins using disinfectants.

Central Railways is also ensuring that the on-board house keeping staff is equipped with sufficient liquid soap and napkin rolls to ensure no hassles in the replenishment of the same during the journey.
