Two brothers of martyred Indian Army soldier Aurangzeb who was kidnapped and killed by terrorists in Kashmir’s Shopian district in June 2018 have joined the army to keep alive his love for the country, Times of India has reported.
Rifleman Aurangzeb who was posthumously awarded the Shaurya Chakra was part of the operation to kill Hizbul Mujahideen commander Sameer Tiger. A few months after the operation, he was kidnapped and killed by terrorists while returning home for Eid celebrations.
Now two of Aurangzeb’s brothers - Mohammad Shabbir Salani, Mohammad Tariq are currently undergoing army’s pre-induction training, following which they would be inducted into the Punjab regiment. They have successfully completed all entrance tests required by the army, during a recruitment drive held at Poonch, back in May.
“We have joined the Army for the love of our country and accepted the challenge of avenging the killing of our brother Aurangzeb by Hizb terrorists in south Kashmir”, younger brother Shabbir was quoted as saying.
Aurangzeb’s father - a former army man himself and currently a BJP leader, expressed his happiness over their decision, “My other two sons, Tariq and Shabbir, were inspired by the courage and valour of their elder brother Aurangzeb, who was martyred in line of duty”.
