Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) has decided to go all alone in the upcoming assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand, reports Livemint.

Party supremo Mayawati made the announcement, putting to rest the speculative reports which had been claiming that her party will be fighting the elections in an alliance with Asaduddin Owaisi's All India Majlis-e-Ittehad-ul-Muslimeen (AIMIM).

Taking to Twitter, Mayawati said, "Reports are doing rounds since yesterday that the AIMIM and BSP will fight the upcoming assembly general elections in UP together. This news is completely false, misleading and factless. There is not even an iota of truth in this and BSP vehemently denies it."

She also added, "In this regard, it is again clarified by the party that except in Punjab, in UP and Uttarakhand, the BSP will not contest in any alliance in the general election to the assembly to be held at the beginning of next year."

It should be noted that BSP has already entered into an alliance with Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) for the upcoming assembly elections in Punjab. There, BSP will contest on 20 out of the 117 seats, while SAD will contest on the rest of the seats.
