The Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) has rapped the Delhi Government for reckless spending of more than Rs 1,000 crore in a gap of mere 30 days, flouting the financial rules, reports Economic Times.

Raising questions over the spends by the Chief Minister (CM) Arvind Kejriwal led Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi (GNCTD), CAG has pointed out that the Government has flouted the rules in 26 items including health, education, city development and social welfare.

The CAG's report titled 'State Financial Management of the Government of Delhi between 2017-18' has underscored that in the case of 26 items for which the spending rules were flouted, a total of Rs 1,404.51 crore were spent in 2017-18, of which Rs 1,064.55 crore was spent in the last month of March 2018 only.

The report which had been tabled in the Lok Sabha on 2 December, pointing out the CM Kejriwal's Government's neglect for rules has raised doubts over amount being spent so hastily all in a sudden in a single month of the entire year.
