National People's Party (NPP) leader Conrad Sangma on Monday denounced the Congress’ party’s claim of having NPP’s support and reiterated that they would support the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to form the government in Manipur.
Dismissing the letters that the Congress party had presented before Governor Najma Heptullah earlier in the day, claiming the NPP’s support, as fake, Sangma called all such assertions “totally baseless”.
"We have no knowledge about those letters. The signatures that are there are not the signature of my president. The letter is not even on the letterhead of the party. The official letter of the party has been submitted. We have signed, our president has signed, all our MLAs have signed. I don't know what kind of policy or game is being played. But our stand is very clear that we are here to support the government led by the BJP," clarified Sangma, as reported by ANI.
The Governor has asked incumbent Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh to tender his resignation in order to facilitate the formation of the next government.
