Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) continued questioning Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC) staff at its Govindpura camp in Prayagraj on Sunday (3 March), reports Amar Ujala.

Along with this, statements of applicants were also recorded who gave CBI evidence of impropriety during the examinations. UPPSC-Additoinal Private Secretaries (APS) examination 2010 and state Provincial Civil Service (PCS) examination 2015 saw several applicants complaining of corruption in appointments.

The report quotes sources telling that the apex investigation body is tightening the noose around those involved in the scam. UPPSC as well as camp office have become interrogation centres for the suspected staff members and recording of evidence from applicants. The CBI team from Delhi continued the process despite weekly holiday on Sunday.

Taking strict action against the large-scale irregularities in government appointments during the tenure of Samajwadi Party, UP government led by Yogi Adityanath had transferred the APS 2010 case to CBI in September last year, previously having transferred the PCS 2015 case.

CBI in its preliminary probe had found that several relatives of officials who didn’t even satisfy the minimum qualification criteria were given the job.
