The Union Government is working on a youth skilling package specially targeted to benefit the youths hailing from the newly crafted Union territories of Jammu and Kashmir, and Ladakh, reports The Economic Times.
The package which is aimed at enhancing the employability of the individuals of the state in sectors like textiles, tourism, food processing, healthcare, handicraft, construction and IT/ITeS, is expected to be announced by 31 October, when the two Union Territories will come into full-fledged existence.
The package is likely to include incentives for companies to employ local youth and it is also expected to pave the way for setting up a heritage skill development institution to protect the traditional handicraft from the region.
Under the package being formulated by the Union Ministry for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, there are also plans to organise job fairs in Jammu and Kashmir, which would help bring major companies and job seekers on the same platform.
