Bestselling author Chetan Bhagat on twitter called out Vidhu Vinod Chopra by accusing the filmmaker of publicly bullying him and driving him close to suicide.

Bhagat in a tweet on Tuesday morning (21 July) referenced to Sushant Singh Rajput's upcoming movie Dil Bechara and implored "snobs and elitist critics" to write sensibly.

"Sushant's last film releases this week. I want to tell the snob and elitist critics right now, write sensibly. Don't act oversmart. Don't write rubbish. Be fair and sensible. Don't try your dirty tricks. You have ruined enough lives. Now stop. We'll be watching", tweeted Bhagat.

He then also pointed fingers at an unknown prominent male film critic who Bhagat alleges tried his best to ruin Sushant Rajput as he hates self made people and confident small town Indians.

Amid the ensuing twitter storm film critic Anupama Chopra took to twitter accusing Bhagat of bringing the discourse to a new low.

Bhagat though decided to hit back and said that her husband (Vidhu Vinod Chopra) had tried to deny him credit and driving him close to suicide.

"Ma'am, when your husband publicly bullied me, shamelessly collected all the best story awards, tried denying me credit for my story and drove me close to suicide, and you just watched, where was your discourse?", tweeted Bhagat.

As reported, Bhagat was referencing to the movie 3 Idiots where Abhijat Joshi and Rajkumar Hirani get prominently credited for the story and screenplay. They also bagged multiple awards for Best Story and Bhagat was only credited in the ending film credits.

Bhagat later also tweeted that 3 Idiots which was based on his novel Five Point Someone and his story won every Best Story award but he (Bhagat) received none.

"I was not given any of those story awards. They took them all. As a powerless newcomer I was bullied and was deeply affected", said Bhagat.
