Former Union finance minister and senior Congress leader P Chidambaram has attacked the Bharatiya Janata Party over the Prime Minister’s decision to scrap Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 currency notes, once again. He called demonetisation a “reckless” move and wondered what other such “reckless” moves were yet to come out.
#DeMonetisation is reckless, now I don't know what more disruptive and reckless measures are there in the armoury: P Chidambaram pic.twitter.com/w97eKhq4vN

He also said that he wished for the present government to achieve growth rates similar to that of the United Progressive Alliance-1. He however added that they were not in a position to do so.
Wish govt meets our growth rates of 8.5% in UPA-1 & 7.5% overall. All the best to them, but they aren't in position to do so: Chidambaram pic.twitter.com/ye4E9NMr28

Chidambaram also said that the presentation of the Union Budget this close to the election would not influence the five poll-bound states as people had already stopped talking about it.
