Chinese President Xi Jinping will be on a visit to India from 11-12 October for the second informal summit with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Mahabalipuram.

"At the invitation of the Prime Minister, the President of the People's Republic of China Xi Jinping will be visiting Chennai, India from 11-12 October 2019 for the 2nd Informal Summit. The two leaders had their inaugural Informal Summit in Wuhan, China on 27-28 April 2018,” said an MEA statement.

"The forthcoming Chennai Informal Summit will provide an opportunity for the two leaders to continue their discussions on overarching issues of bilateral, regional and global importance and to exchange views on deepening the India-China Closer Development Partnership," the statement added.

Earlier in April last year, PM Modi and Chinese President Jinping had held their first informal summit in China’s Wuhan. In the summit, both the leaders exchanged views on overarching issues of bilateral and global importance. They also elaborated on their respective visions and priorities for national development in the context of the prevailing international situation.
