In a major development for Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) hit China, President Xi Jinping today (10 March) arrived in Hubei province's Wuhan city for the first time since the epidemic broke out in the city and spread to the world, reports Hindustan Times.

The visit comes at a time when the tally of newer cases of infection has been dropping dramatically in the city over the recent weeks as an outcome of the unprecedented quarantine measures implemented in the city by the Government.

During the unannounced visit, President Jinping donned a mask and spoke to frontline medical workers and patients at one of the field hospitals in the city via video link. He will also be paying a visit to military officials, community workers, police, patients, and residents of the city.
