The internet is going frenzy after Dayanand Shetty, who plays Daya in the popular detective series, CID confirmed that they will be going off-air after their final episode on 27 October.
As per a report by IANS, a statement was issued by the channel saying, “Having completed 20 years, CID is the longest-running cult show on Sony Entertainment Television. It has been a great journey so far, along with Fireworks Productions. CID will now take an intermittent break starting 28 October”.
Speaking to TOI, Dayanand said, “We were in our 21st year and had we shot for a few more episodes, we would have entered our 22nd year. It is quite an unfortunate thing to happen as we were shooting like always and suddenly, were informed by our producer that the shooting has been called off indefinitely because there were issues with the channel.”
He further adds, “I am going to miss the character, but we feel sad for the audience as they enjoyed the show and it was doing well. The entire cast and crew is very dedicated to their work and we are like one big happy family. We are going to miss each other as this was our second home ”.
The popular show, which first aired in 1997, features Shivaji Satam (ACP Pradyuman), senior Inspectors Aditya Srivastava (Abhijeet) and Dayanand Shetty (Daya) in lead roles.
But in the same statement, as per an NDTV report, there is a ray of hope for the evergreen show to make a comeback as the channel added, “The show will gear up for a renewed season with a lot more contextual cases, keeping alive the thrill that the audience has experienced so far”.
