Finance Minister Piyush Goyal on Friday (1 February) presented the ‘interim’ finance budget in the absence of Arun Jaitley.
The biggest announcements during the speech included doubling Income Tax exemption limit to Rs 5 lakh, providing an annual direct benefit transfer (DBT) of Rs 6,000 to farmers and a pension scheme benefiting 10 lakh unorganised workers. A slew of benefits were also announced for the real estate sector.
