The Congress party and its supporters on Wednesday (22 April) launched an extensive social media campaign demanding the arrest of senior journalist Arnab Goswami over his comments criticising party president Sonia Gandhi over her silence on the brutal lynching and murder of Sadhus in Palghar.
The campaign against Arnab Goswami was supported by Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot who demanded that he be sacked from Republic TV - a channel which he himself owns.
Attack on mrs Sonia Gandhi by Arnab Goswami is highly condemnable. He has gone insane and crossed all limits, he should be ashamed of himself . I must ask the Editors guild - isnât this all time low for journalism ? Mr Rajeev Chandrasekhar must sack him immediately.

The Congress leaders and supporters are reportedly miffed over a clip of him criticising Sonia Gandhi for her alleged silence on the brutal lynching and murder of Sadhus in Palghar, Maharashtra.
A video of that snippet was also shared by Congress Seva Dal Karnataka.
We can't call this barking as journalism.

Insulting a motherly figure, a party Prez, a respected&educated leader is not a symbol of impartial journalism.
If ArnabGoswami is working for BJP then he can straightway join party. He may get Rajyasabha seat! #ArrestAntiIndiaArnab pic.twitter.com/R01Ba6FKer
The Congress social media warriors also began trending #ArrestAntiIndiaArnab which was soon countered by the party’s critics who in response began trending #IsupportArnabgoswami.
Various party functionaries backed the call to arrest Arnab Goswami.
Arnab is a criminal and should be in jail, not on national television. Pass it on. #ArrestAntiIndiaArnab
