Actress and Congress Leader Urmila Matondkar has accused her fellow party leaders of sabotaging her Lok Sabha campaign, following which she lost the election by a margin of 4.6 lakh votes, DNA has reported.
Matondkar in a letter to Milind Deora (who has since then resigned as Mumbai Congress chief) pointed out how some party leaders refused to cooperate with her, didn’t help her in campaigning and even tried to sabotage Mallikarjun Kharge’s rally in her area.
The letter was written soon after the exit polls were declared on 19 May, and was recently leaked to the media.
In the letter Matondkar also alleged that the party totally lacked coordination and failed to get its political machinery to fully back her, even on the polling day.
Ahead of the Lok Sabha polls, Matondkar had courted controversy after calling Hinduism the “most violent religion”. She later took back her words and called it an epitome of peace.
