Minors were caught red-handed drinking and littering near a pond at the Salvador do Mundo creek by the Porvorim police in Goa and ordered to clear the mess of dumped liquor bottles and other litter from the spot, reports The Times of India.

Villagers had earlier continuously raised the issue of drinking and littering at the pond during gram sabha meeting. The Porvorim police inspector Paresh Naik while returning from the gram sabha meeting found two minors sitting near the pond and drinking. He immediately caught the duo and asked them to clean up the area. It took just 30 minutes for the boys fill three sacks with all the trash from the area.

The Inspector was quoted saying “We have constituted a special team under sub-inspector Sajith Pillai and Head Constable to act against those drinking and littering any public place that falls under Porvorim police station jurisdiction.”

Ravalnath temple committee also in a Facebook post appreciated the efforts of police in taking the right action in the right time against drinking and littering at a place designated for Ganesh Visarjan.
