Coronavirus: CBSE Postpones All Class X, XII Exams Scheduled Till 31 March, MHRD Calls For JEE Mains Rescheduling

The Central Board of Secondary Education on Wednesday (18 March) announced the postponement of class X and XII board examinations scheduled to be held between 19 March and 31 March. The revised dates will be notified after re-assessment of the coronavirus situation.

In the press release CBSE informed that this precautionary measure was based on instructions by the secretary, department of higher education. All the examinations will now be scheduled post 31 March and the dates will be conveyed in due course of time.

The re-examinations scheduled to be held for Northeast Delhi students also stands suspended. All ongoing examination evaluation work will also be suspended till 31 March.

In a circular issued to heads of various academic bodies, the HRD Ministry has also called for postponement of JEE Mains examination as its current date may clash with the rescheduled board examinations. The circular also stated that a postponement was necessary to mitigate the difficulty for students and parents to travel to different towns to give the exam.
