The lone coronavirus patient from Karnataka’s Kodagu, who was discharged last week, again started showing COVID-19 symptoms such as fever and went back to the hospital in Madikeri on Wednesday (15 April), The Times of India reported.

The 35-year-old case number P-15 has again been isolated at the hospital and his samples have been sent to a lab in Mysuru. The development instilled a fear of resurgence of the virus spread in Kodagu which had been kept out of Covid-19 affected districts’ list.

While asking people not to panic and saying that fever could be possible for other reasons, Kodagu DC Annies Kanmani Joy told the test results will were expected on Thursday.

The DC also said the chances of his spreading the virus to others in the village were less as “after his discharge, he was in home quarantine.” The man hails from Virajpet Taluk in Kodagu.

The person had tested positive on 19 March and received treatment at Madikeri’s COVID-19 hospital until he was discharged on 7 April. His tests had come negative before getting discharged.

He, however, contacted the authorities after re-developing some flu-like symptoms and sought to get tested.
