Coronavirus In India: Record 10,956 New Cases Raise Covid-19 Tally To 2.97 Lakh; Here's The Latest State-Wise Breakup

The number of new Coronavirus cases in India recorded the highest single-day spike of 10,956, taking the total case count in the country to 2,97,535, the Union Health Ministry data revealed on Friday (12 June).

According to the Health Ministry, of the total, 141,842 are active cases while at least 147,195 people have been cured of the disease.

At least 396 deaths were reported in the last 24 hours, taking the total fatality count to 8,496.

Maharashtra, which has emerged as the worst Coronavirus-hit state in the country, has so far recorded 97,648 cases, including 3,590 fatalities, and 46,078 recoveries. Tamil Nadu followed with 38,716 cases. The Covid-19 tally in Delhi has crossed the 34,000-mark with as many as 34,687 cases recorded so far in the national capital. Gujarat has reported 22,032 cases so far.

States with most casualties after Maharashtra are Gujarat (1,385), Delhi (1,085), West Bengal (442) and Madhya Pradesh (431).

States with more than 9,000 cases are Uttar Pradesh (12,088), Rajasthan (11,838), Madhya Pradesh (10,241) and West Bengal (9,768).

Among other states/UTs where Corona cases have surged past 2,000-mark are Karnataka (6,245), Bihar (5,983), Haryana (5,968), Andhra Pradesh (5,429), Jammu and Kashmir (4,574), Telangana (4,320), Odisha (3,386), Assam (3,319), Punjab (2,887) and Kerala (2,244).

According to the Health Ministry, 8,315 cases are being re-assigned to states.
