With the highest single-day spike of 6,654 new cases in the last 24 hours, India's total case count of coronavirus jumped to 125,101, the Union Health Ministry data revealed on Saturday (23 May).
According to the Health Ministry, of the total, 69,597 are active cases while at least 51,784 people have been cured of the disease.
At least 137 deaths were reported in the last 24 hours, taking the total fatality count to 3,720.
In Maharashtra, the Covid-19 cases climbed to 44,582, followed by Tamil Nadu which has 14,753 cases, and Gujarat with 13,268 cases so far.
Maharashtra has also reported the highest number of deaths, 1,517, followed by 802 in Gujarat and 272 in Madhya Pradesh.
The Covid-19 cases in Delhi have increased to 12,319 with 208 deaths reported so far, according to the Health Ministry data.
States which have reported more than 5,000 cases are Rajasthan (6,494), Madhya Pradesh (6,170), and Uttar Pradesh (5,735).
