The Uttar Pradesh (UP) Police has booked 10 Indonesian nationals including five women who had attended the Tablighi Jamaat congregation in Delhi's Nizamuddin area and placed them all under quarantine for the time, reports ANI.
The Indonesians have been booked under different sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), Epidemic Diseases Act, and the Foreigners Act, 1897. The action has been taken by Ghaziabad Police which also made public the development today (5 April).
The Tablighi Jamaat religious congregation held in Delhi has emerged into a hotspot cluster case for the spread of Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) in India, with numerous confirmed cases and deaths being reported from Delhi, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Telangana among other states with links to the congregation.
Meanwhile, the total confirmed cases of COVID-19 in India stood at 3,374 as per the latest data made available by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MOHFW). The figure includes 266 patients who have been cured, discharged or migrated, and 77 have who have succumbed to death.
