Heightening the tension between partners of the ruling coalition in Kerala, Communist Party of India (CPI) the second in command of the Left Democratic Front (LDF) alleged its masters, the Communist Party of India Marxist (CPM) of stealing relief materials meant for Munnar relief camp and stashing them at party offices, reports Malayala Manorama.
The issue was revealed during an altercation between CPM and CPI members, when CPI workers found relief materials addressed to the district collector at the CPM party office, which were being transported in vehicles bearing CPM flag.
There had been allegations on the CPM for appropriation of relief materials earlier too, especially in Munnar, where vehicles carrying relief materials are directed to CPM office.
“Relief materials are not reaching to those in need. They are being transported and distributed under CPM banner, making the whole relief operations a mere masquerade” alleged CPI.
Following the allegations CPM operatives were summoned and warned by the Sub Collector. However the CPI cadre had to intervene when three load of relief material from Tamil Nadu were diverted by the CPM on Saturday (25 August).
