A top lieutenant of wanted underworld don Dawood Ibrahim's infamous D Company, Jabir Moti is set to be freed from a prison in London as the United States (US) has dropped the request for his extradition on charges of drug trafficking, money laundering and blackmail charges, reports Livemint.
A 53-years-old Pakistani national, Moti is also known as Jabir Motiwala and Jabir Siddiq. He had been incarcerated at Wandsworth prison in southwest London since his arrest in 2018. Following his release, Moti is expected to fly back to Pakistan where Ibrahim is often said to be living.
It should be noted that the now withdrawn extradition request for Moti had clearly asserted that he reported directly to Dawood, who is a designated terrorist and wanted for the 1993 serial bombings in Mumbai.
It should also be noted that besides money laundering, Moti faced extradition to the US on charges of extortion and conspiracy to import unlawful substances such as heroine.
