Senior Congress Leader Rahul Gandhi has landed in a soup yet again after he reiterated his lie of India not having a Ministry dedicated to fisheries.

In a rally at Kollam's Thangassery beach, Rahul Gandhi said that fishermen are neglected by the "government in Delhi" and the first thing he will do - after purportedly coming to power is setting up of a "Ministry dedicated to fishermen of India".

"Just like our farmers farm the land, you farm the sea. Farmers have a Ministry in Delhi, you don't. No one speaks for you in Delhi", said Rahul Gandhi.

Similarly about a week ago he had made a "similar promise" to the fishermen of Puducherry.

In both the occasions the Congress leader was called out on social media including by the Minister of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying Giriraj Singh.

Singh said that a ministry for Fisheries has already been setup by the Narendra Modi led Central government in 2019 also also urged Rahul Gandhi to visit the new fisheries ministry so that he can learn about its schemes.

The Department of Fisheries is one of the two departments under the Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying which came into effect from February 2019.

The Department is responsible for matters relating to formulation of policy and schemes relating to Development of Inland , Marine and Coastal Fisheries and Fishery Institutes.

Following Rahul Gandhi's today's statement, Giriraj Singh shared a copy of a question Rahul Gandhi himself asked to the Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying with regards to the work being done to help fishermen and improving the fisheries infrastructure.goes

"He himself poses questions to the Fisheries ministry in the Parliament, but when he doesn't get the opium to spread misinformation via the answers, he goes around the country spreading misinformation", said Giriraj Singh.
