Days after heckling journalist Deepak Chaurasia on camera, Shaheen Bagh protesters have been accused of attacking a lawyer and a BJP supporter who were invited for a TV show at the protest venue by India Today’s Rahul Kanwal.
In case of Chaurasia, the mob surrounding him could be seen manhandling him, as some people tried to stop the coverage. Later, in the second part of the video, Chaurasia could be seen being driven out by the protesters.
Now in a similar incident, lawyer Raghav Awasti put out a tweet claiming that he and author Shantanu Gupta were shoved and dragged off at camera at Shaheen Bagh and were unable to put forth their views.
Rahul when you invite someone to your show you are not supposed to ignore them when they are being shoved and dragged off camera. Would have been nice if you had tweeted about that too. @shantanug_ and I were your guests. Do release footage of how I was prevented frum speaking 2 https://t.co/oXBcV1DFUP

In the tweet Awasthi slammed Kanwal for painting a one sided picture of the Shaheen Bagh protesters and refusing to acknowledge their rowdy behaviour. He also demanded that Kanwal release the footage of the duo getting heckled.
Kanwal soon responded to the tweet confirming that the duo were indeed not allowed to put forth their views as they were contrary to the ones professed by the Shaheen Bagh protesters.
