While the discussion continues on social media about the foreign propaganda activity to malign India, the Delhi Police has registered an FIR against Swedish environmental activist Greta Thunberg over her recent tweets on farmers' protests around Delhi, reports India Today.
Greta Thunberg has been charged with Section 153A (promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion, race) and Section 120B (criminal conspiracy) by the police.
On 3rd February, Thunberg wrote "We stand in solidarity with the #FarmersProtest in India" and shared a CNN article titled “India cuts internet around New Delhi as protesting farmers clash with police.”
In the following tweet, she had shared a ‘tool kit’ and wrote “Here’s a toolkit if you want to help.” However she quickly deleted this accidental tweet and posted an ‘updated toolkit’.
The initial toolkit shared and promptly deleted by Thunberg showed that a widespread campaign may have been on much before 26 January.
This document is adding fuel to the view that there is an international conspiracy afoot to defame India and the Modi government over the farmer protests.
The document provides a list of “urgent actions'' as well as “prior actions”. The former contain a timeline: a Twitter Storm on 4 and 5 February; solidarity photo or video message by 5 and 6 February; contacting government representatives to ask them to take action; signing online petitions; and divesting from Adani, Ambani enterprises.
The document contained a “toolkit”, various images, “samples” and "scripts” in different languages for all the planned actions that the readers can pick from. The document says that “it is paramount to put international pressure on India’s Government” and asks the reader to use these.
