Delhi Police has lodged a First Information Report (FIR) against controversial Kashmiri politician and former JNU Students’ Union leader Shehla Rashid over allegations of her posting fake tweets aimed at maligning the Indian Army, reports ANI.

The FIR was lodged following a complaint by Supreme Court lawyer Alakh Alok Srivastava:

The complaint cites a number of instances in which Rashid made accused armed forces personnel of maltreating residents in the Kashmir Valley through torture, ransacking of houses, etc.

The said FIR has been filed under sections 124A (Sedition), 153A (attacking religion, race, etc. of a community), 153 (attempting to provoke a riot), 504 ( provoke breach of the peace) and 505 (statement provoking public mischief) of the Indian Penal Code.

This is not the first time that Rashid has come under the police scanner for allegedly peddling fake news; previously in February Dehradun Police had also lodged an FIR against her after clarifying that there had been no incident in which female Kashmiri students in the city were trapped by a mob in their hostel as Rashid had claimed.
