The Delhi Police on Monday (18 May) took former union minister Yashwant Sinha into custody after he sat on a dharna in Delhi’s Rajghat along with AAP leaders Sanjay Singh and Dilip Pandey, Times of India has reported.
Sinha, the two AAP leaders and their protesters were demanding that Indian Armed Forces be pressed into service to help migrant workers get to their homes. The Delhi police arrived today evening while the protest was still on and took them to a nearby police station.
At 7.58 PM today Sinha tweeted that he and his co-protesters have been “arrested” by the Delhi police.
We have just been arrested by the Delhi Police.

Yashwant Sinha who served as the Finance Minister and the External Affairs Minister in the erstwhile Atal Bihari Vajpayee government, has in recent years become a trenchant critic of the Narendra Modi led central government.
In 2017 Sinha had infamously made sweeping allegations against the Narendra Modi government alleging mismanagement of the economy. He was countered by the then union minister and his son Jayant Sinha.
Yashwant Sinha quit the BJP in 2018 and had also moved the Supreme Court along with Arun Shourie and Prashant Bhushan seeking an independent probe in the Rafale deal.
