If things go according to the plans, a bullet train could be running between Delhi and Agra at a speed of 300 km/hr every hour by 2029-30.

According to a report by the Times of India (TOI), the high-speed rail project between Delhi and Varanasi will be 958 km long and it will also have a 123 km long spur that will be connecting Lucknow and Ayodhya.

There will be a combination of elevated stretches along with tunnels along the route owing to the security requirements over there. Moreover, an underground station will be established at the Jewar airport in Noida as well.

There will be a total of 12 stations covering major pilgrimages in UP. The total project cost is estimated to be around Rs 2.3 lakh crore.

As a result, the total travelling time between Delhi and Varanasi will be brought down to merely three hours from the current 11-12 hours.

Subsequently, there will be around 63 trips between Delhi and Agra on a daily basis whereas 43, 18 and 11 trips will be conducted between the national capital and Lucknow, Varanasi and Ayodhya respectively, Economic Times reports.
