Asaduddin Owaisi-led All India Majlis-e-Ittehad-ul-Muslimeen's (AIMIM) leader Asim Waqar has said that the Deputy Chief Minister’s (CM) post across states should be solely reserved for Muslims.
Moreover, Waqar has asked the Samajwadi Party (SP), the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) and the Congress to clarify their thoughts on this issue.
The AIMIM politician mentioned that people ask Muslims to vote for them but tend to have a problem when Muslims demand the Deputy CM’s post in return of that.
Subsequently, Waqar was probed whether AIMIM’s ally Bhagidhari Sankalp Morcha will agree to this demand. The leader asserted that Om Prakash Rajbhar, whose Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party leads the BSM, will certainly not disagree to this proposition, Times Now reports.
In fact, Waqar’s statement promoting the reservation of the Deputy CM’s post for Muslims follows the power-sharing formula expressed by Rajbhar earlier today.
Rajbhar mentioned that there will be five Chief Ministers (CMs) from five different communities provided that the Bhagidhari Sankalp Morcha alliance secures a victory in the Uttar Pradesh assembly elections in 2022. This will be done to ensure equal representation for all the partners of the coalition.
“If we form the government in 2022, we are clear that there will be five Chief Ministers in five years. One will be Muslim, one Rajbhar, one Chauhan, one Kushwaha and one Patel. We will also have four deputy CMs in a year and 20 in five years,” Rajbhar was quoted in a report by the ANI.
