Jual Oram, senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader and Union Minister announced that Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Dharmendra Pradhan will be BJP’s Chief Ministerial candidate for Odisha yesterday (27 November), as reported by Moneycontrol.
This announcement comes after former Odisha-cadre IAS officer Aparajita Sarangi joined BJP.
The announcement put an end to the rumours that the BJP would project Sarangi as their Chief Ministerial candidate in the state. Oram said that Sarangi has joined the BJP as a primary member.
"Dharmendra Pradhan will be the chief ministerial candidate of the BJP in Odisha. We will fight the forthcoming Assembly and Lok Sabha elections under his leadership. Our aim is to unseat Naveen Patnaik from power and put an end to the rule of the non-Odia bureaucrats in the state," quoted Jual Oram, as reported by Money Control.
On rumours about Rourkela MLA Dilip Ray and party's national executive member Bijay Mohapatra resignation from the BJP, Oram said that it will be a major loss for the party if they quit.
