In a positive move towards inclusivity, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has introduced separate toilets for transgender commuters which were earlier reserved for use by specially-abled commuters only, reports Hindustan Times.

The move to establish toilets for transgender commuters will help them get unhindered access to toilets across its stations.

Presently, Delhi Metro has as many as 347 such separate toilets across the network of its stations.

Launched first on 24 December 2002, DMRC today boasts of a wide network spread across bustling cities like Ghaziabad, Faridabad, Bahadurgarh, Ballabhgarh and Noida, other than the national capital of Delhi.

DMRC operates 10 separate colour-coded corridors which are interconnected at different locations across its network of stations. These include both, above-the-ground and also underground constructions.
