Bollywood actor Vivek Oberoi, who is playing the lead role in the upcoming biopic ‘PM Narendra Modi’, said that the opposition is afraid of “chowkidar ka danda”, ANI has reported.

Speaking about the biopic, Oberai praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi and said that movie on his life is an inspirational story.

“We are not projecting Modi ji as larger than life, he already is larger than life. We are not projecting him as a hero, he already is a hero, not only for me but for crores of people in India and abroad. Its an inspirational story which we brought to the screen,” ANI quoted Oberoi as saying in a tweet.

The film recently came under the scanner of Election Commission after Congress and Left parties complained to the poll panel. Petitions were also filed in two High Courts for staying the release of the movie. However, the courts refused to interfere with the release of the film.

“I don't understand why some people are overreacting like this. Why are such senior and famous lawyers like Abhishek Singhvi ji and Kapil Sibal ji wasting time on filing a PIL (Public Interest Litigation) on such a modest film? Don't know if they are scared of the film or of Chowkidar's 'danda' (wooden stick),” ANI tweeted quoting Oberoi.

According to ANI report, the actor asserted that the movie, which is set to be released on 5 April, is neither funded by any political party nor it is part of any propaganda.
