“Don’t Want Anti-Nationals Making Money Off Of Me”: Kangana Ranaut Welcomes Ban By Editors’ Guild In New Video

After Entertainment Journalists' Guild of India announced the boycott of actor Kangana Ranaut over her spat with a journalist whom she accused of targeting her for making a film on nationalism, the actress has released a video on Twitter in response.

In the video, Ranaut takes on a section of media and compares them to “deemak” or mites eating away the nation. She says that such mediapersons harm the respect of the nation and attack the unity and integrity of the country constantly. She also accused them of spreading fake news.

Ranaut continued, saying that such journalists openly proclaim and preach their gross, vulgar and anti-national views and expressed discontent that there was no provision to punish such people.

Ranaut led a frontal attack against the so-called “liberal secular media”, and said that they didn’t even have the skills of a “10th fail”. She called them “pseudo secular” and “pseudo liberal” for always using religion to attack the unity and integrity of India. She said that the journalist that she had had a spat with was one such person.

Kangana said that the said journalist made fun of her campaign on World Environment Day against plastic in association with the Isha Yoga Center. Next, when she did some work for animal rights and against cow-slaughter, again he attacked her. He also made fun of her movie based on Rani Laxmibai, a freedom-fighter, she said.

Ranaut said such people are money-minded and always looking for free-lunches at a press conference. They don’t have any arguments or analysis, but use abusive and vulgar language. She questioned the journalistic credibility of such persons and said that they have nothing to show for themselves but wanted favours as a journalist.

“I have zero per cent tolerance for any desh-drohi (anti-national),” said Kangana. She accused the Editors’ Guild of threatening her, and saying that they wouldn’t cover her and finish her career. Calling them “Bikau” and “pseudo journalists”, she said, “I request you all to please ban me and never cover me because I don’t want that because of me, anti-nationals like you make money.”

Ranaut added that those who targeted victims of MeToo and promoted films of harassers were not liberals.

In the two minute-long video, she also thanks the good section of the media for supporting and encouraging her, and that she got many good friends from the field. “You have a huge role in making me who I am today, and I will forever be grateful,” she said.
