DoPT Ordered To Disclose Names Of All IAS Officers Marked For Prosecution Over Corruption Charges Since 2010

The Central Information Commission (CIC) has sought disclosure of names of all Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officials against whom prosecution has been sanctioned in connection with corruption cases, Press Trust of India has reported.

The Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) has thus been asked to disclose details of all IAS, IPS and IFS officials who have been cleared for prosecution during the 2010 to 2017 period.

This order is in regards to a petition by a Lucknow based activist who has sought these records including file noting and other details but was not provided the same by the DoPT.

The CIC while allowing the disclosure of the civil servants’ names declined to release detais regarding fie noting and other records.

The CIC Commissioner Divya Prakash Sinha justified it by saying that most of the information sought in the petition is vague and would mean a large diversion of resources if it is to be supplied.

The names of both the civil servants against whom prosecution has been ordered and declined would as a result be released of the CIC order.

A few days ago it was reported that the Income Tax department had raided the properties belonging to a retired IAS officer and recovered documents indicating that he owns benami property to the tune of Rs 300 crore.
