In a freak accident, eight soldiers from the Indian Army were injured while participating in a bomb training exercise today (22 May 2019). The accident which took place near the LoC has critically injured one and has resulted in the rest being hospitalised, reports The New Indian Express. The condition of the injured and further details are awaited,

The training accident in Poonch District is the second such incident in just two months. A similar occurrence took place on 2 April 2019 at Army’s Bercha Field which left two soldiers killed and six injured. The soldiers were in a sniper training program when the cover under which the jawans were hiding caught fire due to extreme summer heat.

On 27 February 2019, a road accident in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir saw a vehicle transporting some jawans overturned; the incident killed a soldier and injured five others.

Poonch is a district bordering Pakistan-occupied-Kashmir (PoK) and is thus the site of heavy military presence.
