In yet another possibility of a hate crime, over 20 people are killed, injuring 26 in a mass shooting at a Walmart outlet in El Paso, Texas, reports The Guardian.
A 21-year-old suspect has been taken into custody after a local TV channel published what it said was a picture of the suspect from CCTV footage.
A still in the footage shows the shooter entering the Walmart store, armed with a gun.
The suspect had posted a manifesto that incites hate-crime in an online message board called 8chan which is well known for spreading white nationalist ideology, said the investigators.
If the suspicions stand confirmed, the said incident would be the third mass shooting which was announced in advance on 8chan in less than five months.
The Christchurch shooting in New Zealand and April attacks on a synagogue in California both saw the shooters posting a few documents on 8chan prior to the attacks. Many posts on the message board were purportedly linked with the suspect in another case of Pittsburgh synagogue mass shooting that left 11 Jews dead.
Palpable attempts to paint the immigrants and refugees as invaders have been making rounds across many online portals for some time in the US.
