Over 50 employees belonging to Pakistan International Airlines have been sacked after they were found to possess fake degrees. This includes pilots and cabin crew members. This has been done after the Supreme Court gave an order to fire the employees with such fake documents in possession. Three pilots are among the 50 who were sacked.

Pakistan Supreme Court’s Chief Justice Saqib Nisar had taken note of the appointments made by the airlines with those not holding genuine documents. The case was taken up in January 2018.

India Today reported that the Chief Justice-headed two-member bench issued a deadline of December 28 to the Civil Aviation Authority to verify the degrees of the pilots and present a report.

Operating out of main hubs such as Karachi, Islamabad and Lahore, Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) is the national airlines of the country.
