Supriya Shrinate will be replacing the Congress’s previously announced candidate for the constituency, Tanushree Tripathi, who is the daughter of murder-convicted politician Amarmani Tripathi.
This is not the first time the Congress has fielded a well-known journalist as a candidate for Parliament. As per media reports, the party had previously nominated journalist Kumar Ketkar to the Rajya Sabha from Maharashtra.
Ketkar had been a well known name in the Marathi-language media, but was accused of having a pro-Congress slant in his news coverage.
