In a positive development, the Government on Friday (3 July) shared that the fertiliser sales have registered a solid 83 per cent jump over in April-June period on the ongoing year compared to the previous year, reports Economic Times.

The period recorded POS sales to the tune of 111.61 lakh tonnes, significantly higher than the sales of 61.05 tonnes which was recorded last year during the same period.

Going granular into details, the Government shared that the sales of Urea increased by 67 per cent to 64.82 lakh tonnes, while sales of DAP surged two-folds to reach a total of 22.46 lakh tonnes. Meanwhile, sales of complex fertilisers increased more than 100 per cent to touch 24.32 lakh tonnes figure.

It should be noted that the robust sales of fertilisers have been materialised despite nationwide lockdown and movement restrictions which continue to be enforced in various parts of the country even today.

The Government has lauded the concerted efforts made by the Department of Fertilisers, Railways and the State Governments and port authorities for ensuring that the production, as well as the supply of fertilisers, went on without any hiccups during the period.
