Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap has been summoned by the Mumbai Police for questioning in connection with alleged sexual assault against a female actor.
The movie director has been asked to appear at the Versova police station on Thursday (1 October), Hindustan Times reports.
"Mumbai Police summons film director Anurag Kashyap asking him to appear at Versova Police station tomorrow at 11 am, in connection with the alleged sexual assault against actor," news agency ANI reported.
Kashyap has been accused of rape by actor Payal Ghosh who also filed a case against him last week.
After the complaint was filed, Kashyap's lawyer issued a statement denying all the allegations on behalf of his client.
"My client, Anurag Kashyap, has been deeply pained by the false allegations of sexual misconduct that have recently surfaced against him. These allegations are completely false, malicious and dishonest," his lawyer Priyanka Khimani had said in a statement.
Ghosh had on Tuesday also went to meet Maharashtra governor B S Koshyari demanding action in the matter. Ghosh had earlier questioned the delay in arresting the accused and threatened to go on a hunger strike in an action was taken soon.
